The first green waste composting facility has been established in Northern Cyprus.
In Northern Cyprus, the country's first green waste composting plant, established in the municipality of Lapta-Alsancak-Chamlybel, was inaugurated. The project, which is funded by the European Union, uses green waste in the region to produce firewood, compost and mulch, which improves soil quality.
The opening ceremony of the first compost plant was attended by Mayor of Lapta-Alsancak-Chamlybel Firat Ataser, Cooperation Director of the Cyprus Settlement Support Unit of the European Commission Stefan Simosas and Project Coordinator Tahsin Tolga Alav.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mayor Firat Ataser said that the composting process is taking place on an area of 4,400 square meters and that the most important priorities are to ensure high quality products and the sustainability of the enterprise.
