Athlete from TRNC to Compete at the Paris Olympics Today

Today, Buse Savaskan from the TRNC is set to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The high jump event with Buse Savaskan is scheduled for 11:15 AM at the Stade de France.

Representing the Turkish national team, the Turkish Cypriot athlete has received well-wishes from the National Olympic Committee via a social media post.

Her performance has also garnered considerable attention in Northern Cyprus. TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel extended his wishes for success to the high jumper through a social media post.

"Our country's star athlete, Buse Savaskan, is wished success in the qualifying rounds of the Paris Olympics," stated the Prime Minister.

Born on February 24, 1999, in Cyprus, Buse Savaskan started her international sports career at the European Athletics U20 Championships in Tbilisi in 2016.

The Northern Cyprus representative, who is ranked 28th in the world, is among the 32 athletes competing in the high jump at the Olympics, coached by Ukrainian expert Gennady Zuev.

In total, 102 athletes from the Turkish national team are vying for medals at the Paris Olympics.
