A hydroplane service between the TRNC and Turkey may commence in the upcoming season
The TRNC Minister of Transport, Erhan Arıklı, has announced the potential launch of passenger hydroplane services between Turkey and Northern Cyprus for the next season. These services are expected to operate from the newly inaugurated port in Anamur.
During the opening ceremony of the ferry terminal and hydroplane pier in Anamur, which saw attendance from a TRNC delegation, the minister discussed this prospect.
"The pier's ability to accommodate hydroplanes is of particular interest to me. We've faced numerous technical and legislative hurdles in hydroplane operations. We are now dedicated to swiftly overcoming these challenges and initiating hydroplane services by next season," the minister declared.
Last week saw the inauguration of the ferry terminal and hydroplane pier in Anamur, set to enhance the speed of maritime transport between Anamur and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The journey from Kyrenia to Anamur is expected to take only 1.5 hours via sea bus.
