A beach cleanup campaign has been initiated in Northern Cyprus

A beach cleanup campaign has been initiated in Northern Cyprus. This yearly environmental event is coordinated by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment.

The TRNC's beach cleanup activities are traditionally held during the summer. The campaign's goal is to "maintain beach cleanliness and enhance environmental consciousness among the populace."

Within this environmental initiative, five activist groups perform cleanups twice daily, in the morning and evening, across four regions' designated swimming zones: Famagusta, Iskele, Yeniboğaziçi, and Tatlısu.

In Famagusta, eco-teams are active at Palm Beach-Devran and Glapsides Beach. In Yeniboğaziçi, young volunteers clean the beach near the Salamis hotel and the Yeniboğaziçi public beach. Iskele and Tatlısu's public beaches also undergo cleanups.

Despite garbage bins being available, it's observed that beachgoers still leave considerable litter, especially evident during the evening cleanups.
