A new ferry service from Anamur to Kyrenia is set to launch on June 12

A new ferry service from Anamur to Kyrenia is set to launch on June 12, aiming to cut the travel time between Turkey and the TRNC to just two hours on average.

The Piyale Pasha sea bus, with a capacity for 450 passengers, is already moored at the pier in the Mersin Anamur area. The first voyage will set sail for Northern Cyprus at 11:00 and will make the return trip to Turkey at 18:00.

Captain Adnan Ketenci expects the journey from Anamur to Kyrenia to take approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Anamur Mayor Durmuş Deniz believes the ferry service marks a crucial development in transforming Anamur from a city noted for agriculture and tourism into an international hub.

"The people of Anamur have great cause for celebration. The city is not only agriculturally important but also a tourist paradise. Our attractions include a 17-kilometer stretch of coastline, numerous caves, Mamure Castle, and the historic city of Oren," said the mayor.

He added, "I am certain that these ferry trips will invigorate both tourism and agriculture in Anamur."

The ferry is scheduled to run four times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, leaving Anamur pier for Kyrenia port at 11:00 and returning at 18:00.
