New water pump in Famagusta.

Famagusta Municipality has announced the switching on of a new water pump in the main reservoir to supply pressurised water to the network.

According to a statement from the water supply department of Famagusta Municipality, due to the inability to provide sufficient pressure and quantity of water in the network during the summer months, there are periodic interruptions in the water supply in many areas. For this reason, Famagusta Municipality has activated a new water pump in the main water tank.  

Thanks to the new 50 hp water pump, which will pump water from the main reservoir of the Water Department, located next to the EMU campus, to the water tower where water distribution takes place, the amount of water will increase by about 4,000 cubic metres daily. Thanks to the water pumps, the number of which with the new pump has reached 5 and a total capacity of 230 hp, it will be possible to distribute water faster and more pressurised to high and extreme areas where water has difficulty in reaching.

The statement said that in the coming period, the Municipality of Famagusta will continue to work on developing the water infrastructure, installing high-tech centrifugal pumping systems in cases where the flow and pressure in the network are insufficient, and replacing other pumps at the central depot with more efficient ones.
