Employment of TRNC youth during the summer period.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the Minister of Labour and Social Security Hasan Tachoy and the President of the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities Mahmut Ozcinar signed a protocol, the ceremony of which took place at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

The protocol aims to meet the growing need for labour in the service sector (environment, cleaning, etc.) during the summer months from among TRNC citizen students aged between 16 and 22.

Under the project "Ready to Work in Summer", young people can be employed in the service sector, especially in the environmental and cleaning sector, between 15 June and 15 September to gain work experience and income. Under the project, the Union of Turkish Municipalities of Cyprus will register the recruited students with the Social Insurance Department and the Pension Funds Department, while the Employment Support Centre of the Pension Funds Department under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security will provide support of 40% of the current minimum gross wage for each recruited student.

The protocol will be valid for a period of five years from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2028, between 15 June and 15 September.
