"Green" comet flies towards Cyprus.

On February 5, Cypriots will be able to observe the approach of the comet C 2022 E3 ZTF to our planet at a distance of 42 million kilometers, which can be seen with the naked eye in the region of the North Star.

Its diameter is approximately 1 km, the color of the comet itself is green, and its tail is yellow.

According to scientists, this cosmic body was formed from the Oort cloud, which is the source of long-period comets.

The name "green comet" did not appear by chance. Thus, the capital letter C tells us that the comet is long-period; 2022 E3 shows that the cosmic body was discovered in 2022 in early spring and became the 3rd similar object that was seen during the same period; using the abbreviation ZTF, we learn that this discovery was made by telescopes of the brand Zwicky Transient Facility.
